Buying a can of soup helped Beverly Dyer, of Phoenix, Arizona, win a SUV, appliances, carpeting, cabinetry, countertops, flooring, cookware, Lennox heating and cooling equipment, and much more in the latest Good Housekeeping $100,000 home makeover contest.
The Lennox portion of the prize is $10,000 to be used for equipment and installation.  Dyer, a karate and Judo instructor, and her husband, a real estate broker, are excited about winning the Lennox equipment, which they’ll select soon. "After we have our top-of-the-line Lennox air conditioner installed, we will be the coolest people on the block," she said.
She didn’t enter the sweepstakes on her own.  Every time she used her Fry’s VIP grocery card to purchase any product with the Good Housekeeping Seal, she was automatically entered in the contest. Kroger Plus grocery card purchases were also included in the sweepstakes.
The Good Housekeeping Seal, a two-year limited warranty, is earned only after a product clears the review and evaluation process of the famous Good Housekeeping Institute.  If a product bearing the seal proves to be defective within two years of purchase, Good Housekeeping will replace the product or refund the purchase price.  Most Lennox equipment has earned the seal.
Dyer purchased numerous items containing the Good Housekeeping Seal, but the can of soup generated the winning entry.

"I won out of almost 84 million entries,” Dyer said.  “It was basically like winning the lottery. I’m on cloud 567.”
Winning the sweepstakes had perfect timing because the couple recently closed on a 1,600-square-foot home in Phoenix. “It became a little more exciting to look for a house.  It needs a new heating and air conditioning system, flooring, and appliances.  We’ll remodel the kitchen completely.  It’s going to be awesome inside.”
The family is extremely excited about the new kitchen appliances because her husband and three daughters love to cook.
“It’s going to be super nice.  This is Jack-Wiggy (her phrase for extreme).”
Although the family is excited about the Lennox equipment, Dyer, who recently broke her wrist, said the most perfect prize was free moving and storage services. “This will really come in handy,” she said.
